MANDATORY HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
- GOOD NEWS! KANSAS NO LONGER REQUIRES A TB OR BRUCELLOSIS TEST FOR ANY ALPACAS ENTERING FROM ANOTHER STATE.
- You will need two copies of a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) that has been obtained within 30 days of the last day of the show. The CVI must contain the following for each alpaca that enters the facility:
- Full ARI Registered name
- Microchip number
- Negative results of a BVDV-PCR (NO TIME LIMIT). A BVDV test result taken by VI before January 1sr, 2010 is acceptable. Direct all inquiries to Kim Tollers, Halter Show Superintendent, at 608-543-3754 or info@alpacaplanet.com.
- For questions regarding transport requirements, call the state of Kansas at 785-296-2326.
- Please allow you and your vet plenty of time to get these tests and the negative results back, because no exceptions can be made. Every alpaca must be free of infectious disease, and veterinarians will be on premises assisting with check-in on Friday, and on-call throughout the show.
CHECK-IN AND STALLING
- Check-in times are Friday, October 29, 2010, from noon to 7:00 pm. The building will be locked down at 9 pm each night and open at 8:00 am.
- All alpacas will be compliance checked (color and fiber length) immediately after check-in on Friday. Full fleece and shorn classes will be held. After compliance checking, the halter superintendent will give you your registration packets that contain your entry numbers. Do not leave Friday night without getting your registration packet!!!
- Stall assignments are on a first paid, first serve basis, with preference given to sponsors. If you need to be placed next to another farm for any reason, BOTH farms must clearly state that during online registration. This cannot be done on the day of check-in. If you have special needs regarding stalling, note them in the comments section provided during online registration, and we will do our best to help you. Any questions regarding the facility set-up may be directed to Mike Green at royalplushalpaca@sbcglobal.net or
316-259-8439. We anticipate that stalls will sell out again this year before the deadline, and no refunds for stalls will be given after sell-out. Your registration is not complete and your stalls will not be held until full payment is received.
- Our stalls are 8’ x 10’ on very hard packed dirt. The price for farm display or animal stalls is $135 each. There can be a maximum of 3 alpacas per stall. If you wish to have additional flooring, we suggest the plastic mesh mats that are available at alpaca suppliers. Electricity is available for $30 per farm, on a first come, first serve basis, payable in advance during the online registration process.
- Fire codes also determine that NO FARM DISPLAYS CAN BE SET UP IN THE AISLES. Farm displays are $135 and limited to one per farm.
- Check-out will be after completion of the halter show on Sunday. OUT OF CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER EXHIBITORS, VENDORS, AND THE PUBLIC WHO HAVE COME TO VISIT YOUR ALPACAS, PLEASE DO NOT PLAN TO TEAR DOWN BEFORE THE SHOW IS COMPLETE.
HALTER SHOW
- Halter entries are $40 each, which includes the $6 AOBA fee.
- Halter Judges for this year’s Level III halter show will be Kathy Klay for all females and Jill MacLeod for all males. The optional classes will be held on Saturday afternoon. This is an AOBA Certified Halter Show and will be run in accordance with the 2010 AOBA Show Handbook. It is mandatory that each registrant sign an Exhibitors Disclosure Form that must be mailed in with your registration fees. This form will be downloadable during the online registration process.
- All halter show questions may be directed to Kim Tollers, Halter Superintendent, at 608-543-3754 or info@alpacaplanet.com. The deadline for entries is October 12; however, we anticipate a sell out again this year, and would encourage early entry. Remember that your stalling will be placed according to the date of payment.
- In order to facilitate fewer class changes at check-in, exhibitors are urged to compare the alpaca’s mid-blanket fleece to the ARI Color Chart and choose the correct color for your alpaca. Remember that the color listed on your ARI Certificate may not be the color your alpaca is today.
- It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to be aware of 2010 AOBA Show Book rules. See the 2010 show book for complete details, or go to the AOBA Show website at www.alpacashows.com.
- There will be a mandatory exhibitors meeting on Saturday morning at 8:00am.
- No alpaca substitutions will be allowed from the original entry form unless an alpaca becomes ill and permission is obtained from the Halter Superintendent. Permission must be obtained prior to arriving at the show.
- Those showing alpacas that are financed or have not yet transferred the ARI Registration Certificate must have a Owner of Record for Show Entry Form signed by the owner that is listed on the ARI Certificate. This form is downloadable from www.alpacashows.com,, Apps and Forms, or ask us to send you a hard copy.
- Ribbons will be awarded for 1st through 6th place in each halter class. Optional group classes, that is, Get of Sire, Produce of Dam, etc. will be judged by both judges on Saturday afternoon. Please read your show book rules for entering these optional classes. This year we will be awarding Judge’s Choice ribbons for males, females, suri, and huacaya, at the end of the show, if minimum numbers are reached!
- All alpacas shall be presented to the judge wearing a plain halter and lead line. Handler’s attire should be conservative, neat, and appropriate. Ranch names or alpaca names may not be displayed on the exhibitor or the alpaca during the class.
